| This set was originally made for the show
‘Irene’ but has proved so versatile that it has been used for other
productions including ‘The Marriage of Figaro’. With the exception of two wing entrance flats, the set is completely freestanding. It comprises of 6 flats: 4 with arched entrances & 2 with arched windows. With the inclusion of scenic/star cloth behind the arches, infils for the windows & drapes for the entrances, the variations are endless. The flats are supported by a rear steelwork structure which makes them very rigid. The structure is built up on stage from easily manageable pieces. The front of each flat is covered by a black or white drape. The drapes can be raised to reveal the flat beneath. The raising & lowering of the drapes is controlled by cords which terminate off stage. The structure is 26ft wide, 4 ft deep & 16ft high (the actual flats are 12ft high, the other 4ft is taken up by the cord brackets. The height of the cord brackets could be reduced if height is a problem) The only things that you would have to supply would be a border to cover the cord brackets (approx. 4ft deep) & sufficient legs to give coverage to the wings. |
